I noticed the the job posting for the UCSD Developmental position is basically the same as last year and saw (from last year's thread) that the search was either cancelled or that no one was offered the position. Does anyone know why this was the case? I applied last year and am not sure whether it makes sense to apply again.

last year they interviewed 3 candidates and extended the offer to no-one. The previous year they also interviewed some candidates, made an offer to two (as a couple-hire), but the couple went elsewhere. So yeah, it's the same post as previous years. The dev group there is quite small and sounds like the dept may have trouble agreeing on candidates.
The fact that no offer was made could indicate trouble in agreeing on a candidate, but it's also possible that the candidates last year weren't good enough.
Well two of the three interviewed got jobs at *super* top tier institutions (private, research R1s), so I don't think that's it.
big mix: one social, one cogneuro, one cognitive/behavioral. spanning infancy through childhood. (i think that was part of the problem in converging on a winner: too wide a range of apples to oranges to compare)
anon 3901783568 not sure what you're expecting the answer to be but…yeah. of course. that vetting stage happens pre-interview.
