One of my reference letter writers is extremely busy, often not submitting until the day of (or even after) the deadline of job postings. At one place where I ended up on the shortlist, they emailed me to let me know that they couldn't review my application until it was complete (all that was missing was his letter).
Does having letters of recommendation come at the last minute or a few days late prevent review altogether? Will most search committees not even look at an application until it's absolutely complete? And, any advice on how to remind him about all the letters without coming off as a nag?
