I just interviewed at a school, and it was pretty clear that I am their top choice. I liked the school — a good fit, but not perfect. Offers seem so rare in this job market, so having that positive experience and feedback has been exciting.
However, here is where I am torn — an ad for a dream job in the perfect location just got posted, with a deadline about a month away. That is just the deadline, so I imagine it'll be an additional month after that before they do their interviews, etc. This new ad is literally the perfect job — I already know the school, as it is in the place where I call home.
My dilemma then — say no to an offer in hand on the off chance that this dream job comes through? Based on where I've gotten interviews, it seems very possible that they will be interested in me as well (but then again, who knows in this market…). Or, am I being just stupid by turning down a perfectly good offer?
Oh wiki folks — what say you?
