There are often jobs available for psych PhDs in non-psych departments. Depending on the training, psych PhDs can be qualified for positions in the social sciences, medicine, biology, education, etc… Does anyone have experience applying outside of psychology, and how to formulate those applications? Is anyone with a psych PhD working in a non-psych dept? What is the job like?

Helpful post, Anon, thanks.
It would also be helpful to know where to find those job ads, e.g., we have APS Employment network, SFN, higher ed jobs, etc… WHat other organizations, websites and societies are people using to find outside of Psy jobs?
Websites: Higheredjobs, chronicle of higher ed (health, education, professional studies), American society of crim, and academy health.
I am currently considering such a position. For me it comes down to interdisciplinary fit, with the chance to go beyond traditional academic boundaries. This is something of great importance to me, given my research foci.
Also, I think most other fields have their own job wikis as well, just like us. The only one I can attest to from personal experience is the linguistics one, though.
