Anyone heard anything?
Also, if I get an interview invite, should I wear Birkenstocks?
Bennington may be different, but as a Sarah Lawrence alum who was involved in a faculty search there, make sure that everything is tailored to the institution, especially the courses you plan to teach and the way you describe your teaching methods. Do not expect your generic intro-level courses to go over— make sure you have ideas for discipline-bridging open-level seminars, and even for "lecture" classes, be prepared to talk about how you can make lectures more interactive.
Also, don't expect people to call you "Dr. So-and-so". Students call professors by their first name.
Has anyone heard anything yet?
I submitted my application around March 4th, and although they indicated they would review my application, they were already working on a shortlist.
I got an email this morning saying
"I’m writing to let you know that we are not moving forward with the position at this time"
