Associate Professor/Professor of Psychology
Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for an Associate Professor or Professor of Psychology in any area of specialization except for developmental and cognitive to begin in August 2016. We seek candidates who can demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship, are deeply committed to teaching in a liberal arts environment, and will direct an active undergraduate research program. This position is supported by the Bill and Sarah James Eminent Scholars Chair in Psychology and requires a professor with an established record of consistent peer-reviewed scholarship. Candidates will be expected to teach in their area of expertise as well as contribute to general courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, and History and Systems, and participate on a rotational basis in the College’s First-Year Experience, Centenary in Paris, and other non-departmental programs—offered both in traditional and immersive terms.
Centenary offers an undergraduate liberal arts environment, where faculty members work directly with students in an active undergraduate research program, are able to participate in interdisciplinary curricular and co-curricular pursuits, and enjoy the support of faculty and staff colleagues from across the College. The Department of Psychology at Centenary is one of the largest majors on campus. Potential for research collaboration exists with our Neuroscience program, housed in the Department of Biology, and the nearby Louisiana State University Health-Shreveport. A Ph.D. in Psychology or related field is required at the time of employment. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, research as an integral component of undergraduate education, and openness to pedagogical innovation. For appointment at the Professor level, the applicant must have an established record of superior teaching and significant research, or an established clinical reputation.
