
The University of Pittsburgh announces the renewal of our research training program in Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine for both postdoctoral and predoctoral fellows. The program is funded through at least 2018 by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. Training opportunities concern elucidation of psychosocial and behavioral factors leading to cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes. Topics include: personality, stress, and social processes; role of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender and sleep; biological mechanisms underlying disease risk; genetic influences; and psychosocial interventions for health behaviors. Program is a mentor-based model with formal didactic work in areas relevant to research focus, e.g., statistics, neuroimaging, cardiovascular and psychophysiological assessment, and cardiovascular disease.
