Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will serve as lab supervisor for two required courses in the major. Each fall, the position will involve supervising multiple sections of a rat conditioning laboratory serving over 100 students. The lab supervisor will oversee care of the animals, teach students proper handling techniques, teach students to write APA research reports, and set-up and maintain conditioning control equipment and software. Each spring, the lab instructor will oversee multiple lab sections in which students design and execute original, IRB/IACUC-approved empirical studies. In addition to the labs, the successful candidate will be expected to teach one course each semester in their area of specialization and to carry a full load of undergraduate academic advisees.
Faculty in the psychology major work exclusively with undergraduates in a research-focused environment. Opportunities exist for supervising senior thesis research, working with summer research students, and employing undergraduates as research technicians. NTT faculty at Arcadia are eligible for promotion under the same guidelines applying to tenured/tenure-track faculty. Full-time faculty members at Arcadia typically teach a 3-3 load; at present, lab sections constitute two-thirds of that load each semester.
