I interviewed in early November for a position where they just finished interviews. The last interviewee ended on Wed. How long after the last interview would you expect to hear if you were the first choice? I was assuming it would have been the end of last week and am guessing they went with someone else?

It can take longer than that. Often times after the final candidate has interviewed:
-The search committee has to find a time they can all meet (sometimes easy but not always)
-The department submits their recommendation to the dean
-The dean must approve the selection
-The dean will put together an offer
If their ducks are in a row, this can come together in a few days. Other times it can take weeks.
In my experience, it has always happened within 1-5 days, for four offers. However, that has not been the case with other people I've known.
About a week usually if you're the top choice. If not top choice you won't hear anything until the top person accepts/turns down the offer. However people turn down offers all the time so don't get discouraged
My experience has been about a week after. This time I'm being told 1-2 weeks (all state schools).
