
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Applied Developmental Psychology

The Department of Psychology at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC; www.utc.edu/psychology) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in developmental psychology or related field and strong methodological and quantitative skills. Preferred research areas include social-emotional development in adolescence or childhood, particularly emotional regulation, resilience, and health. We especially welcome candidates whose work applies to autism or at-risk youth and those who study diverse populations or racial, cultural, and socioeconomic influences on development.
The typical teaching load in the department is four courses per semester (two single and one double section). The faculty member in this position can select his/her teaching load from a broad range of areas such as applied developmental, adolescence, applied behavior analysis, multicultural psychology, research methods, and statistics. Ideal candidates will provide evidence of strong teaching skills, an active research program with the ability to collaborate with masters and undergraduate students, and can participate in service to the department and the community. Department faculty collaborate on a wide variety of applied research projects with local professionals, teaching and rehabilitation hospitals, other departments on campus, and a variety of private and non-profit organizations in the community, including the Chattanooga Autism Center. The Department of Psychology at UTC has 14 full-time faculty members with approximately 600 undergraduate majors and two well-respected Master’s programs in Research and Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
