For those of you who have gotten offers, how long was the wait between the on campus interview and the offer?
A lot of places will call you with the outcome of the vote/meeting but without the specifics of the offer if those aren't known yet or need to go through a dean. In that case, the call can come the day after the last person's interview or even the day of, if they have a meeting following the last candidate's departure.
I was fortunate to receive two offers this year. One interview was early January, the other was third week of January. Both schools said they were interviewing through the end of the month and wouldn't have a decision until first week of February. The offers came early in the second week of February, both from the Dean.
I'll also share I had two other campus interviews in late Nov / early Dec. The Nov committee said they would decide before winter break; the Dec said mid January. I got the "position has been filled" call for the Nov job in early Jan and had not heard from the Dec search by the time I was offered the other positions. I called to let them know I was no longer interested, and assumed they had already offered the job to someone else.
For me, waiting after the campus interview was the hardest part. Especially because I knew all four committees had contacted my references post-interview.
I had two interviews. The first said they'd get back to me within a week and they did (rejection). The second said it would be a couple weeks because they had to go to the dean, provost, etc.. They got back to me the day after I got back (with an offer).
I do think that happens sometimes—they say several weeks just in case they don't offer you the position (and to give time for negotiations)
