
At the University of Canterbury, the Department of Psychology is looking for an experienced academic based outside New Zealand who can teach a 12-week undergraduate course on Sensation and Perception, and who would be interested in being nominated for a fellowship which would support travel and accommodation costs and provide a daily stipend.
The course is taught in Semester 1 between Feb 22 and June 2, 2017. The semester consists of two terms, with the 1st term from February 20 to April 7 and the 2nd term from May 1 to June 2. Assessment will be part of the course coordination, both during the semester and during the exam period (June 13 – 25). Assessment of the course typically consists of 4 components: test, a short essay, lab participation, and an exam.
The main responsibilities of the instructor include the following:
• Deliver two 1-hour lectures per week.
• Supervise 2 teaching assistants (TAs), who are in charge of 4 labs.
• Create test and exam questions. Grade test and exam papers with the assistance of the TAs.
• Grade students' essays, also with the assistance of the TAs.
The Sensation and Perception course typically has about 100 enrolled students.
