Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news, but it's a bad year to be on the market. I was on the market last year too, and ended up taking a 1-year visiting position after being unable to solve the 2-body problem with my husband. Evidence this is a bad job year:
* Last year at this time I'd found 19 jobs that fit my interests, 17 of which were social psych jobs at teaching institutions.
* This year so far I've found only 9 jobs, 4 of which are social psych jobs at teaching institutions.
So we're talking half as many general psychology jobs, and 1/4 as many teaching-oriented social psych jobs. Good luck out there—it's rough.
