Hi Wiki users!
Nevada State College has two positions in psychology — one open area position and one clinical/counseling position.
Open-Area — any specialty area, but seek breadth in course capabilities (highest need for: 101, cognitive, developmental, methods, stats)
Clinical/Counseling — only one position, but accepting both PhD (tenure-track) and MA (lecturer) applicants
We ran both of these searches last year, but one closed without review and one was a failed search. If you applied last year, we encourage you apply again!
MORE ABOUT NSC:
We're a small, recently established 4-year public college just outside of Las Vegas (25 minutes from UNLV/the Strip). Our campus mission is to promote student success and foster educational opportunity for our highly diverse and largely underserved student population. We currently serve 3,500 students—the majority who are first generation, racial/ethnic minorities, or adult learners. We are committed to teaching excellence and supporting our students via small class sizes — our average class size is 27 students (maxxing out at 40).
MORE ABOUT THE PSYCHOLOGY AREA:
Our psychology program is housed within the Department of Social Sciences and serves over 300 psychology majors, 120 psychology minors, and 60 counseling minors. We are dedicated to providing students with rigorous academic preparation in the science of psychology. For example, all majors are required to complete a capstone course in either advanced research methods or supervised clinical field experience. This preparation emphasizes an empirical approach to the study of psychology with a concerted focus on the use of research methodology and evidence-based strategies to better understand and solve problems. Ultimately, we aim to cultivate well-rounded students with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and lifelong learning skills needed to succeed in the workplace and/or in graduate school. Our website, nscpsychology.com, includes links to our list of course descriptions, student degree maps, current faculty, and recent happenings on the blog.
