The Department of Psychology at Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position of Behavioral Neuroscience to begin in September 2017. Appointment at a more senior level is possible for applicants with suitable experience. Applicants must hold an advanced degree in behavioral neuroscience or a related field at the time of appointment; post-doc and teaching experience are preferred. Successful candidates will participate in the College’s mission of undergraduate teaching and mentoring as well as program development activities in neuroscience. Teaching duties will include introductory neuroscience courses, upper level neuroscience courses in the candidate’s specialty area and possibly general interest non-major courses in neuroscience and/or psychology.
Randolph-Macon is a selective liberal arts college located in the beautiful Virginia piedmont, just 15 miles north of Richmond and 90 miles south of Washington, DC. The Behavioral Neuroscience program provides access to its outstanding animal facilities, including an off-campus primate laboratory in Miami, FL, and core facilities for light microscopy, proteomics, and computational behavioral neuroscience. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in a strong research program exploring the neuroendocrine basis of animal behavior, including rodents and human or nonhuman primates. Our scientific environment offers opportunities to collaborate with research teams in neuroendocrinology, primatology, and genetics around the world.
