Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank in the department of Health Behavior and Policy. The department is part of the School of Medicine and closely affiliated with Massey Cancer Center. Our mission is to bring together a multidisciplinary faculty to promote research and scholarship that addresses how social, economic, behavioral and policy factors affect health outcomes at the individual and population level.
Qualifications: We seek applications from creative, dynamic individuals who share in our commitment to excellence in research and scholarship in public health and prevention science.
Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree in public health or closely fields, such as psychology or sociology. Applicants should show evidence of research productivity and the potential to obtain external funding.
Research areas of particular interest include (but are not limited to) cancer prevention and control, population health science, digital and mobile health, childhood obesity epidemiology and prevention, life-course epidemiology, and behavioral or lifestyle interventions to improve health of children and families. Strong research design expertise in novel methods such as Multiphase Optimization strategy (MOST) or Sequential, multiple assignment, randomization trials (SMART) and /or statistical expertise in statistical genetics, structural equation modeling, growth curve modeling are highly desirable. The faculty member will also support the department with teaching responsibilities at the graduate level, including providing support to our PhD programs in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Healthcare Policy and Research. Candidates must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
