For those of you have taught several classes in a semester - how different (in terms of effort and work) do you feel a 3/3 (with only 2 preps per semester) is from a 2/2?

I have taught several semesters with a 2 load of the same course, a 2 load of different courses, and a 3 load with 2 preps. I feel that the 2 course semesters are much easier to handle, even with the same number of preps. Many people on here feel differently but I have found that the extra time in the classroom and the extra students (grading, E-mailing me nonstop with questions) is noticeably different.
Although I have, at most, taught 2 separate courses concurrently (2 preps), I would agree that the effort is less in the preparation and more in the leg work of the course. Even in semesters when I had 2 sections of the same course, I found the variability between them to make them feel very different.
