I have a formal offer from a school but will be interviewing at 2 additional places in January. The school has already extended the offer deadline so that I can interview at school #2, but school #3 has me scheduled to interview outside of this timeframe. I have mentioned my dilemma to school #3 and in a previous e-mail communication they said that it might be possible to bump up my interview date. I have since left a few messages at school #3 to explore this option, but my messages have thus far been unreturned. I really like the school at which I have been made an offer, but school #3 would be ideal for a number of reasons and I would hate to have to withdraw before having an opportunity to interview there. So, here is what I'm wondering:
1. Do I try leaving another message with the Chair at school #3? Or would this be perceived as annoying?
2. Do I try contacting someone else on the Search Committee at school #3 (e.g., someone I have already had detailed phone conversations with regarding the position)? If so, do I try to solicit more information regarding how I may be ranked amongst the 3 candidates that are being brought out to interview?
3. Do I suck it up and do nothing?
4. Other suggestions?
Any advice would be appreciated.
