I am the Chair of this search, and we clearly adopted the wrong platform in going all-digital. We pay SlideRoom a licensing fee, and they also collect these fees from applicants. I think the rationale is that SlideRoom was developed for the visual arts. They collect these fees as an alternative to applicants submitting work samples and having them returned. In any case, this wasn't what I had bargained for. Such fees aren't the norm in psychology, and we never intended to be unique in this way.
Thank you for speaking up about this, and I'm sorry this happened in the first place. We've arranged with SlideRoom to pay each applicant's $5 fee, and those of you who already have applied will either receive a charge back from SlideRoom or a $5 reimbursement from us.
I hope this doesn't prevent anyone from applying for this job. Lewis & Clark is a wonderful place!
