I'm going off to a campus interview soon and I have some questions. I currently have a TT job but looking for better location/school. I am a female and actually I don't have much interview experience at all (except one that lead to this current job).
Thanks so much for reading my post and I would truly appreciate if you could leave your advice!!
The place I'm interviewing is a very good SLAC in an ideal location. I currently have 4-4 teaching load, looking for lower teaching load and more research time, more motivated student population.
1. 2 full days, 1st day meeting with faculty (one-on-one half an hour), dean and a 1-hr student reception. Anybody has any advice about the Dos-and-Don'ts in such meeting with about 8 undergrad students?
2. 2nd day is teaching talk and research job talk then more meetings with ppl. which day should I dress more formally? i have a dark navy pinstripe suit and a very sharp silverish-gray simple suit jacket with black pants. which outfit for each day, i don't know if suit is better for 1st day or 2nd day. also more fashion question: is oxford style dark flat shoes ok for interview? i have pumps but they are not as easy to walk in. are you supposed to change shoes for 2nd day?
3. i've heard i shouldn't say anything about my current place. is it true? definitely no complaint. but what if they ask, why do you want to leave your current position?
like i said, i'm still a newbie and would truly appreciate your advice. thank you so much!! :)
best luck to everyone!~
