I have had my heart set on trying to get a job with a 2/2 teaching load as I love doing research and anything more than a 2/2 teaching load seems like it will be hard in terms of doing research. I am not striving for a R1 per say but just a better balance of research/teaching. However, I have been on the job market almost three years and have not received this dream job as of yet. I am curious to know from those who were successful in getting 2/2 teaching load jobs, especially in social or those who work in these schools.
1) How many publications did you have? in what tier?
2) How many first author? in what tier?
3) How many classes did you teach?
4) Did you have postdoc experience
5) did you have any grants?
I need to get a realistic assessment of whether I will be able to get a position like this given my record of not publishing in a first-tier but having a few first authors in specialized journals.
