Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) in the Department of Human and Community Development in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is expanding its program and announces a tenure-track academic year (9 months) faculty position at the assistant-professor level with expertise in the area of infancy and/or early childhood (i.e., prenatal through age six, or prior to formal schooling) studied in diverse contexts. The individual who is selected for this position will have a strong general background with an appreciation of the organism-environment interplay underlying child development and an active program of research and demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas: social-emotional development, cognitive development, biological development, risk prevention/intervention, contextual/ecological influences and/or ethnic and cultural diversity. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement his/her own extramurally-funded research program focused on understanding infancy and early childhood development in the context of family, school, community and/or natural environments. The ability to develop collaborative research projects with faculty in Community and Regional Development and Environmental Design is desirable. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to infancy and early childhood development and will also be expected to contribute to the University's cooperative extension mission to conduct applied research and outreach with a focus on child development in context consistent with the mission of the California Agricultural Experiment Station. Candidates must hold an earned Doctoral or equivalent degree in Human Development, Psychology, Education, or other related field and a record of research related to early childhood development.
