Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for following up.
I will be at my current job for a few years, and then going back on the market. Professionally, I like my position quite a lot. But, it is personally not a good fit for my family. We'd hoped things would work out differently, but it's not looking very promising.
To be more specific, questions I have -
1) When do I tell my colleagues here about my need to go back on the market? To complicate matters, part of the issue has to do with having an academic partner, who is currently making a brutal commute to another institution in a different town. If we could find a position for my partner at my institution, we'd be inclined to stay.
2) Is it critical to receive letters of rec from someone at my current institution?
3) Are there resources that people know of tied to making a lateral move (I will be an assistant professor)? I know so much more about the jump from grad school or postdoc to faculty.
4) Any advice people have about when to go back on the market.
