I made the Oct 1 deadlines, so now I'm now thinking ahead to interview time! I'm a few years into my first TT position, but am going back on the market primarily for dual-career/joint-search reasons, but secondarily because I'm unhappy in my department.
I'm anticipated that the question about why I'm applying will come up in phone/in-person interviews. I'm curious as to what others think about how forthcoming one should be in these scenarios: (1) about the two-body problem — and if the answer is "don't mention it"… then (2) how do you convey "wanting more" from a new position, without implicating your current department (as being less than ideal)… and not sounding "boo hoo, poor me"… if you catch my drift. :P
