Should my purse match my shoes? Is this an "old fashioned" rule, or does it still hold true? Do people care?

Well, I don't use a purse but a causal briefcase/messenger bag given that that it fits paper for notes and my computer for presentations. I don't think people would notice a purse too much at all, but I did get several positive comments on my computer case last year.
Related question. I'm concerned I may be too handsome for science. Should I do something to distract from the stunning symmetry of my features so that the audience can focus on my work?
Yes, have a friend bash your face with a brick a few days prior to your interview. Give enough time for scabs to somewhat heal.
