According to the SRC, they receive about 400 applications for the faculty research fellow position. I imagine it will take them a bit longer to make a short list than for a regular faculty search? I'm interested on updates regarding that position too, if anyone has heard anything.
Same EXACT rejection email as last year (from Feb 2012 and now again, Dec 2012). They didn't even bother updating the number of applicants, so I wouldn't put too much weight in that info (i.e. "more than 120 strong applications"). My guess is that number is probably a bit higher based on inside info RE: last year's search.
Thank you for applying to the announced position in the Biopsychology area of the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan. After a difficult process of looking for the best match between the candidates' qualifications and the program needs and research strengths of the department, a few candidates from our short list were invited for campus visits.
We appreciate your application, and regret that we were unable to ask you to visit. We recognize your application to be a strong one, and we congratulate you on your accomplishments. Unfortunately we could not invite most excellent candidates to visit, and our decision was made exquisitely difficult by our constraints and the more than 120 strong applications we received.
The search committee is grateful for your interest in our department and wishes you the best with your future endeavors.

So sad :(
I'd be interested to know what they're looking for if they're not filling the position…. Did they even make any campus invites?
