So I am preparing to send an email to the SC of an R1 at which I interviewed (campus visit). The SC mentioned their timeline was 12/10 but I have not heard anything one way or the other. I was hoping at least for a courtesy you are out of the running if this was the case. The other R1 I interviewed at provided this fairly quickly. Is there any standard protocol for sending an email of inquiry? I realize this is a rather elementary question but was hoping for some examples of canned text or otherwise in terms of how applicants have approached this email beyond the standard "what is the deal?".
