Go to staples.com or whatever (especially if you know which company your university orders from) and use the prices as a guide… Often, universities have discount deals worked out, so you'll likely overestimate the cost, but that's not a big deal… Also helps to go to such a store in person, especially because chains like staples and office max sell the same furniture all over, so if you like a set (or don't) it'll be the same when you move… Also gives you a good idea of whether the set is sturdy, cheap, ugly, too short, etc. before you order. You can sit in the chairs instead of just looking at photos online!
Don't underestimate the value of a good chair; my first few months of my TT job I was stuck in an old 1950s chair in front of a 1950s desk until my new furniture arrived, and my back and neck KILLED ME. I recommend putting some money into your office chair and also making sure you get a good keyboard and keyboard shelf… You'll be using these things for many hours per day every week, potentially for years (you're likely to have the stuff you buy now for the rest of the time you're at this university)… So, get something nice!
