FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Lecturers of psychology with social, clinical or developmental psychology expertise, full-time position to begin Fall 2013. The appointee will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in clinical, developmental, or social psychology as well as experimental psychology, and statistics. This person will also coordinate student research placements. The position also includes service on departmental, divisional, and college committees in addition to other responsibilities, including curriculum development. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in scholarly activity and professional organizations in psychology. This position has a teaching load of 27 credits. However, allocation for overseeing the research placement of students will be included as part of this teaching load.
QUALIFICATIONS
We seek an individual with a strong commitment to teaching and an ability to work with diverse student populations. While research and publication are not required for the position, they are looked upon favorably by the college and are used in determining eligibility for a Certificate of Continuing Employment, which is available after five years of service. Ph.D. required, ideally in clinical, social, or developmental psychology area(s). Experience in teaching a variety of courses in the areas of clinical, social, or developmental psychology. Also required are interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Five years of teaching experience is needed and ability to teach a variety of courses in psychology. Experience with student research and educational technology as well as teaching in a diverse community college setting are preferred. Research knowledge to help student placement in independent research internships.
