CAMPUS: Purdue University North Central is a regional campus within the Purdue University system. It currently serves approximately 6,000 students with a full-time faculty of 122. This scenic campus is situated on 268 rolling and wooded acres eight miles south of Lake Michigan near the cities of LaPorte, Michigan City, and Valparaiso. It is 65 miles east of Chicago’s vast cultural resources and 85 miles north of Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette, IN. The location offers both urban and suburban living, excellent school systems, and extensive recreational facilities.

POSITION: This is a ten-month, full-time tenure track faculty position with the possibility of summer teaching. The teaching load is 11-14 contact hours per week per semester in a broad range of undergraduate courses in psychology which may include Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Personality Psychology, and Research Methods and Statistics depending on the expertise of the individual hired. The Department currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Department is hiring an assistant professor of psychology. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in Psychology by the time of appointment in August 2014. Area of specialization is open but may include clinical, social, or developmental psychology. Evidence of teaching experience and of scholarly potential is desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Excellence in teaching, an active research agenda, and engagement (service) within the University and surrounding communities are expected. Academic advising, participating in campus governance, and pursing one’s research interests are included among faculty duties. Some courses may be taught in the evenings, online, or at off-campus locations. Learning, Discovery, and Engagement are central to the Strategic Plan of Purdue University North Central. Learning (teaching) is the primary function of a faculty member at this campus, and a Discovery (research) agenda appropriate to the discipline is required.
