Assistant Professor in School Psychology Psychology Department-New York City
Pace University invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track Assistant Professor position in School Psychology to begin September 1, 2014. The Psychology Department is housed within the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University-New York City, located in lower Manhattan. The Department of Psychology at Pace University offers three graduate (Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology, M.S.Ed. in School Psychology, and M.A. in Psychology), two undergraduate (B.A. in Psychology and B.A. in Applied Psychology and Human Relations), and a combined B.A./M.A. program. The Psy.D. program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) as a combined professional-scientific psychology program and also approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D., or Psy.D., in School Psychology or a combined degree from an APA accredited training program; be eligible for school psychology certification in New York State; and have New York State licensure (or eligibility). This position involves teaching courses in the M.S.Ed. in School Psychology and the Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology programs. In addition, this position requires strong scholarship and development of a research program. Applicants should be grounded in the contemporary practice of school psychology, including, for instance, experience with children’s and adolescents’ academic as well as mental health issues. Experience in evidence-based practice including cognitive behavioral interventions for children and adolescents is expected. The specific area of expertise within school psychology is open. A commitment to ethical guidelines as well as cultural and other aspects of diversity is fundamental.
