Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Candidates are expected to teach courses in their area of expertise and maintain an active research program. All faculty at SCSU share in academic advising and participate in department/university service. Candidates must be committed to teaching within a vibrant and demanding public liberal arts and sciences environment, and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring and research with undergraduates. Nominal teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester. SCSU offers reassigned time for research, University grants for research and curriculum development, sabbatical leave, and support for grant applications.
Tenure-track faculty at SCSU are expected to conduct creative activity/research in their area of expertise. These activities include, but are not limited to, research leading to publication of books and/or articles in academic and professional journals, performances in the fine and performing arts, seeking funding in support of research and teaching needs, and contributing to workshops and conferences.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates are required to have: a Ph.D. in Psychology or other relevant specialization (e.g. Behavioral Neuroscience) by the time of appointment (ABD may apply), evidence of the ability to engage in meaningful research activity, and ability to teach in one's area of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have a specialization in either Behavioral Neuroscience or Industrial/Organizational Psychology (including Human Factors). Candidates with specializations in closely related areas will be considered. Candidates should be qualified to teach courses within their area of expertise, as well as Experimental Methods and Statistics. The preferred candidate will have an active research program with evidence of research productivity and prior experience teaching at the college level with evidence of teaching ability. Experience working with undergraduate researchers is valued, as is the ability to secure external funding.
