Hi all. New assistant professor here. I've been an ad hoc reviewer for several journals since I was a graduate student. One journal in particular contacts me every 1-2 months to do reviews. Now that I have my PhD and a faculty position, I'd like to get onto several editorial boards. How does this typically work? Do journals usually invite people to be on their editorial boards? Is it ever appropriate to contact a journal and offer one's services?
I know this isn't directly related to the job market, but I imagine folks on the forum will have good advice. Thanks in advance!
