I interviewed in person for a R1 TT job, was told that the process would continue through early Feb. Didn't hear anything in early Feb, so emailed about a month ago checking-in on status. Search chair said that the search was ongoing, I was an "active candidate" and that they hoped to update me in the near future. A couple weeks later, I heard via wiki that an offer had been made. As of today (about 1 month after last contact with school) I still haven't received any update. I'm assuming I'm not their top choice (and quite possibly not even 2nd choice). Would it be viewed as nagging if I checked-in again? I'm not sitting on any other offers (and don't expect to receive any).

Anom-nom-nom it's not clear to me what you'd gain by contacting the Search Chair other than feeling like you're being pro-active (which I know can feel good in and of itself). You're probably right that someone else has the offer and is working things out. For instance, my friend received an offer in late January but is still in negotiations between that school and a second, later-coming offer, so something like that would lead to the situation you're in. Unless you have a reason you *need* to know, I'd say sit tight. Easier advice to give than to take. If it would help you sleep at night, you could shoot the chair an email saying you're just hoping for an update. Your call.:)
